356 Collectibles

During the 356 era (1948-1965) and after, the factory and other manufacturers produced numerous brochures and collectibles (model cars, posters, sculptures, mugs, etc.) related to the 356.  These items are now collected throughout the world.

The largest 356 literature and collectible event in the world is held annually in Los Angeles, California, USA, in the spring of each year.  This is an event that every 356 fan should attend at least once.  Information about this annual event can be found at LA Lit and Toy Show.  This link contains the most current information about the event and reporting about prior year events.

Factory Literature

The Registry website is accumulating and posting factory literature in the 356 Literature Zentrale section of the website.

Two well-known catalogs of factory 356 literature have been published as described in the following paragraph.  There have been no catalogs published of other collectibles.

The first comprehensive Porsche 356 literature catalog published was Porsche Brochures & Sales Literature: A Source Book 1948-1965 by Merritt & Miller.  A review of this catalog by Bill Block is reproduced at Book Review - M&M Book.  A second catalog, DerWhite's 356 Porsche Sales & Technical Literature......the Book!, was produced by a long time 356 Registry member, the late Charlie White.  A review of Charlie's book by Bill Block is reproduced at Book Review - Charlie White Literature Catalog.  A third catalog is a listing organized by Jim Wayman with contributions of many club Literature collectors.  It can be downloaded at Porsche Literature Master Listing.  An interesting article from December 1981 describing the origins of the Wayman listing and the White book can be found here.

In addition to producing the catalog, Charlie created a website which contains a vast amount of information about the 356, including literature, accessories, options, price lists, radios, etc.  His website is currently maintained by the family and his books are still available directly from his website (via email ordering) at Charlie White Book.  Click on the links below to learn about Charlie and explore all areas of his website.
