Ignition Troubleshooting on the Road

Ignition Troubleshooting on the Road Note: This article has a photograph and a diagram. How do I insert them in this article? If you own a 356 "driver" and drive it on trips as I do, the most crucial problem you can run into is a failure of your car to run. You want to solve this problem so it can bring you home with the least amount of effort, time and cost. The problem can be solved if you carry the right parts so if one fails, you have a spare. However, to isolate the failed part, knowledge is critical—if you cannot isolate the problem, you cannot fix it. While many parts can fail, only a very few can prevent your car from returning home. This is a brief tutorial on how to appropriately prepare for your trip (an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure) and how to find out what is causing your 356's inability to run.Over the years we have had two 356Cs in our family from a new one in 1964 for twelve years to a pre-owned one over the last 25 years. They are 26 serial numbers ...

Porsche 904 Factory Service and Technical Bulletins - English Versions

March 7, 2019 | Research & Identification | 0 Comments
Attached are:1. Factory service bulletins for the 904 and for the 587 motor. I do not know if this is the complete list for 904 related service bulletins. 2. 904 factory technical bulletins 2 through 9. Have not translated technical bulletin 1 yet. 3. 904 factory alignment information in English and German.4. Weber carb info for 46 IDA and 48 IDA. Neither are original for a 904 however the 46IDA came into use in the 1960s after the 46 IDM became hard to get. The 48 IDA is used today for vintage racing 904 motors, but is too large for a 587/1 street motor unless dot 2 or dot 3 intake cams are used in conjunction with a larger intake valve as found on the 587/2 or 587/3 motors. Many thanks to Tim Kyuser for most of this information. The original German language technical bulletins may be found in the Barth 904 book.It is interesting to note the amount of experimentation the factory went through in some areas. The clearest is the evolution of the air ducting on the rear quarter...

hardtop sunroof manual Golde

September 19, 2018 | Research & Identification | 1 Comment
Hello to all the fans, I want to know if the hardtop sunroof was proposed in 1959 for At2. The factory did not give me a specific date. Officially he arrived in 1961 in the catalog of options. Dr. Brett Johnson's very good book "A Guide to Restoring Authenticity" states on page 33 (1959 for 356 A) the manufacture was at Porsche Germany or at Golde in the USA in 1959? thank you very much this question fascinates me.
