Found some rust in the left front guard. Quite odd because we couldn't even see it after blasting few weeks ago. It was hidden under some bog

Back panel was removed to allow full access to straighten the panel as well as remove the teardrop cut outs and restore the beehives

It will not be ready for Sunday's Parade but I am taking it on a trailer anyway. Forecast is for showers so we will wipe it with WD40 and have a tarp to cover it when needed. If it gets wetfor any reason, will dry the area with a head gun
Will post some pictures of the Parade late Sunday

Thanks for the warning. I gave the painter a call after reading your post and he said absolutely no WB-40. It has silicon in it which you can't get off later. Acrlic or itch primer if anything

Weather forecast was for rain. We managed to get 1.5hr of sunny break so uncovered the car then covers went back on quickly

Instead of putting only two pictures on the information board, I put a digital picture frame with more than 100 pix on it. Power for the frame came from an old battery

Will post some pix of the parade cars soon

The 1st 2 356s ever in Australia. Both are also the 1st RHD 356s
Interesting that both cars claimed to be the 1st ever RHD

Not much progress during the last few weeks due to the panel shop relocating and the holiday season
They got back to it this week. Mainly tidying up the engine bay area and the tail

My previous project, a '59 D, was similar but not a bad as your cab jay. I have to admire your determination
Yes, I was very luck to find such a solid Pre A speedster to start with

Actually having said that, although it minimal rust, the front was poorly repairedand was off by 15mm to one side. That took few weeks to get square

Very interesting and inspiring thead! I have a 356A Outlaw, now complete, that went through a not quite so involved process. I am about to start a new project and expect it will not go rapidly.
Question: I will blast the tub back to bare metal. Can the bare metal tub live for some period of time (1-2 yrs?) as bare metal? If I put it in primer, won't it require a re-blast in any case before paint?
Thanks
Mark Schumacher

Mark, I am no expert in panel work but I can tell you mine has been blasted and bare for approximately the last 3 months. Of course undercover and in a dry environment and no sign of surface rust. Yes, if you prime it, you will need to re-blast but why are you wanting it to blast it early and leave it for two years?

Some updated pictures below
Back panel removed. The inside rear of the engine bay is straight as an arrow now.

And back on ready for welding

Yes, that is correct, a whole year with very little progress unfortunately. The usual story, panel shop shifted focus, got busy, blah, blah, blah
So after 12 months of nothing, things are progressing again. The work has been completed on the shell and it is now back in one piece. I had to blast it again because after sitting for 1 year, it had some surface rust developing. You can see it in the last picture below which was taken befiore the 2nd blasting
It got blasted and etch primed last week
Next would be the fiddly and time consuming work primarily getting the gaps right and aligning the door bottoms to the sills
Although not much done on the shell, I had the suspension parts restored, brakes redone ready to be fitted and the seats retrimmed
