Headlight buckets have different holes. Any advice on which one is correct?

The only hole I believe that is supposed to be there is the one which the wiring tube goes through. Centered in the lower picture.

Rafik

I took a look at my A and noticed that there is a large hole in the rear of the bucket for the wiring tube. There are two additional holes just like you have pictured. One has a drain tube and I assume that the other is where the wires dive out for the horn and turn signal. It looks like the picture you show with the three holes is correct.

What is up with all of these guys posting up their parts cars on the Forums like they are legitimate projects?? If a car is not nearly perfect why bother? Better to just cut them up and sell the parts for the "good cars" It is almost like these people ENJOY working on their cars or see some value in putting a car on the road that others thought was junk?? What can we do to stop this?!?! :D

Funny to think that guys like us might just be spectators on the sidelines if it wasn't for the janky junk.

It really chaps my ass when people feel the need to gratuitously insult someone's car. I guess their mothers didn't raise them right. It's one thing to critique a car in private, but to publicly slap somebody is a bit much. These people need to keep their traps shut. We all know who they are. All one needs to do is read the forum on a regular basis, and we will see the same people adding their insulting and condescending commentary. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, these people are making the whole experience less joyful every day. My .02.

Good on ya', Rafik! If you need any bits and pieces feel free to ask & I'll do my best to help. Cheers!

Hi, David,

I hope that I am not wrong in this, but I would guess that you are talking about the post by Rusty Wiley above. I believe that it was made tongue in cheek! I read Rusty's comment as being humorous, since he has been doing exactly the same thing for a VERY long time now. Read Rusty's posts here as one of the most read threads ever on this Forum:

http://356registry.com/356talk/topic/4080.html

It is getting to be a real fraternity of resurrectors. While I am not a wrench myself, I just love reading these stories about the many talented people on this Forum who have gone the extra mile to bring another 356 back from a near-death experience! :D

Rusty, Rafik, and David Overington have my complete admiration for their mechanical inspiration.

Rusty

Finally, the voice of reason! And coming from a person that has robbed the rest of the 356 community of a valuable source of parts. I am extremely impressed with your thought process. It is just too bad that it came at this time and not before you started making a project out of a perfectly good parts car.

Regards

Thanks for the pix Mike. And yeah, Rusty is a s%$# stirrer :)
Progess has been slow but there has been lots of hours spent getting the front 100% square and correct. Lots of hours also on getting the front bumper aligned and gaps adjusted. Still aiming to have the panel work done by mid Nov so we can take the car to the Annual Australian 356 Parade last weekend of Nov. The panel guy is not taking any short cuts. Lucky to have someone like him who does it for more than just the $$s

Hi Rafik,
Looks great! Have been enjoying the picture show. Please keep them coming. Best of luck making your November deadline.
