This sticky is reserved for 356Talk members to post the numbers of 356 and 912 engines (or just cases) or 356 transmissions (not 912 or 911 transmissions) that they have for sale or are looking to buy. It is not for posting about engines or transmissions you have seen for sale somewhere.

Please describe the engine or transmission being offered for sale in as much detail as possible. Photos are very helpful, and a price is requested.

Do not make posts here such as "Tell me more about the engine you posted", instead use the "email" button to contact the poster directly.

If you make a post about an engine or transmission and later want to add more information, please use the "edit" button associated with your post so that all the information about your engine or trans is kept together in a single post.

By "post the numbers" I do not mean posts like "I have 3 engines for sale", I am referring to the engine or transmission serial number or engine case number. Information on where to find those numbers on your engine or transmission is here http://porsche356registry.org/resources/tech-articles/research-and-identification/82-engine-and-trans-number-locations.html.

The 356 Registry Database

This sticky is not a substitute for entering your engine or transmission serial number in the 356 Registry Database on the Registry website.

NOTE: currently the Registry Database is not accepting new numbers, but the problem is being addressed. I will update this sticky when the problem is resolved.

How to Search

This sticky will grow to be very lengthy over time. If you are searching for a specific engine or transmission number, use the "Search" link at the top of the page to search 356Talk posts for your number.

Questions?

Please send your questions about the purpose of this sticky directly to a 356Talk moderator, do not post them here as they will be removed.

Let's try to make this sticky topic as useful as possible by focusing on only posting engine or transmission numbers and information about the parts posted for sale.

Thank you for your cooperation.

FS complete running engine

# 34418

type 546/2, 1500cc

Per registry database built between 11/54 - 10/55

Has approx 5k miles since the rebuilt, so barely broken in. Expertly built with 1720cc NPR kit, early 912 heads (no vent holes), standard original crank, rebuilt zenith carbs, new sports exhaust, 6v generator, air filters, flapper boxes etc etc.

Case had a crack which was repaired during the rebuild, but it still has a small oil leak. Oil filter housing and fan shroud are painted in wrong colors.

This is a complete excellent running engine with good power, just install it and off you go.

I had this engine as a backup for my '57, but I no longer need it.

US$ 3,750.- obo.

Located in Phoenix AZ,

Jules

If they call a Porsche powered Cooper a "Pooper", then don't ever put a Ford motor in a Tucker
