Wanting to have an extra set of wheels for my 65 C

thinking about polished Fuchs, 15X6 Front , and 15X 7 Rear looking for for an experienced perspective
any fitment issues? , what brand of adapters?

Here is my 65 356-C with 5.5 x 14" Fuchs. Centers and spokes have been repainted semi-gloss black, with a 1" polished rim on the outside edge. I wanted to lower the car without doing any other modifications. So with low profile 185/60R14 Tires the car is lowered all around between 2.5 and 3 inches. I like to have some "outlaw" alternatives that are strictly bold on, and can be easily reversed to stock.

PS: This set up required some spacers behind the wheels. You may have problems with the larger sized wheels you're considering. Others may chime in on this.

Fronts accept 15X6" Fuchs, no adaptor required. Turning stops may need adjusting to limit travel, prevent tire from eating the wheel wells.
Rear wheel wells will not accept 15X7" Fuchs without widening fenders.

I think the 185/70 profile tire will be the biggest you can run. A "period correct" option, but now relatively unavailable.

David-I have 15X6's front and rear on a '56. If I was to do it again, I'd use 15X5 1/2 on the front, better turning radius. You may want to get offset info. Curt

185 /70 x 15 are available from Vredestein.

15x7 will fit with out fender flares. I'm using disk brakes in back, with no spacers and 175x60 15" tires. You need to reverse the shock bolt and remove the washer so that the head of the bolt is next to the rim. That will give you 1/8" clearance on the bolt and the fender. That's the secret. Enjoy!

The shock bolt should already be installed with the bolt head outboard. Sounds like somebody got it backwards early in the car's life.

6 X 16 wheels, 205/50 tires
1/4" spacers on the rear, 1/2" on the front
The clearance at the rear is very small, but with negative camber there is no rub or interference in normal driving.

i have found that many 356 rear body section are not symetrical, and will require you to test the wheel/tire combo on the car - i run 195/65 r15 on 15x 5.5, and there is 1/2" more clearance on the rear driver vs. rear passenger side - i have also run 205/55 R15 on 15 x 5.5 with no problem - hope this helps - brad (T-6 hardtop 62)

Deep Sixes on C , with 185/70/15 vredestines, good clearance front & rear, with slight rubbing lock/lock on front end, but not a problem .
