You betcha Steve + throw in a bunch of NOS parts...a genuine complete windshield frame fitted for THAT car, matching numbers parts/engine/trans, a lot of original stamped gauges, stamped wheels etc... it seems like the rust is almost free  But on the back end it will be a real nice... and pretty valuable car.

regards,
George

Wow! I wonder if that bench seat is listed on the COA? Can't have been many of those sold. Guaranteed concours winner.

Wow Mark, as of late as a trustee I've been called a lot of things but that sure wasn't one of them :D You made my day.

Do you know what years Continental Motors was in business and who the dealer principal was?

The car should absolutely be saved, and certainly will be. Given the amount of body panels replaced on so many cars these days during many restorations, not to mention the complete rebody of many 550 Spyders, this is no different. Put it on a trailer and just give a few people a call (Trevors, Steve Hogue, Simmonsen(zims), Brad, and RDesign) and you'll be well on your way.

Love to see the COA on that car...and I love bench seats. Emory had one in his notchback coupe a few years ago, it's a strange sensation but then you really start to like it.

cheers,
E

Mark,

When you said "unheated" garage did you mean "roofless"? How could that much steel turn to red powder in a garage using any common definition of the term?

I see a blue tarp.
Bad bad bad...for rust.
If that was on it, (or a series of them over the years) that's why it has the rust it has.
Ground moisture comes up, hits the tarp, and condensates to water.
Rust city.

It's the kiss of death to cover a car with a non breatheable cover unless it's in a controlled climate garage. Sorry Mark, I'm not ragging on you specificaly. Lots of times it's just not known what that will do. I also have no idea if that's the way it was for this one for all these years. Just talking out loud.

Glad to see there is such interest in this car. Now this one will make for an interesting thread in the "projects" section. You should make the sale of the car contingent on it being put in there! It'd be the ultimate "resurection"
:)

Hello Ronald and All,

We might all want to know the answer to that question but the forum rules, at the top of each page under the 356 Talk Forum, do not allow that question. I know that there have been people contacting Mark privately and that some have already inspected it in person. If you want sales info then please contact Mark privately. We are walking a fine line here because this is an interesting story but we do not want selling to be done other than in the classifieds. When Mark has the money and the car is gone I hope he posts the terms of the sale just so we can all know what his Speedster was really worth. But, please, no selling and buying here. Thank you.
