OK, another try.
Let's see. I can try printing the pdf, and then scanning it and then see if the image is worth a crap:
Almost as much fun as banging your head against the wall, but with somewhat better results.
You can also check with Alan or Tim B.. Dunno if Vic has actually fitted one yet, but he's not sending the sample back.

Are the circlip slots the same distance from each end? If not it would help to indicate which is longer.

On the first illustration the arrow seems to point to the head end, on the second illustration, the arrow seems to point to the case end. It is not clear whether the arrow is indicating the orientation of the tube or the motion of the tube. I suppose it is the motion. Either way, for clarity, the tube orientation should be the same in both illustrations.

Why not pre-assemble the parts to the tube (except the circlips) before inserting the tube in the head?

That's the problem with the print/scan/post image. it's not clear enough to answer your questions. But the 'real thing' is.
The lengths are not equal, since I wanted to retain the 'windage extension' on the case side.
If you fit the parts to the tube, you can't slide it through the head push-rod-tube hole; they must be fitted after the case end goes through that hole.

Oh, now I get it, the case end of the tube has to be inserted through the hole in the head from the outside (rocker box side). It can't be inserted up through the middle, under the cylinders.

The problem with tubes that install in that manner is that you pretty much have to remove the exhaust and air channel to get them in.
This installs with the removal of the cover, the rocker and the pushrod; that's all.
