My wife Pam had this car before we were married. It's not a coincidence that we were both interested in Porsches since we met at a PCA event in Kirkwood Park (St. Louis suberb)in 1974. She was dating Alex Malon a drag race mechanic at the time she bought this car. They were driving down the road and saw a 356. she said "what a cute car". Within a week or so They found this 52 and purchased it from a shirtless Hippy eating spagetti while he showed them the car. It cost less than I just paid to have the Banjo wheel restored. Alex who was a fabulous mechanic rebuilt the motor and painted it to match the original Maroon color. We drove it off and on for some years.
Since the start of the 80's we've been keeping it dry and compiling parts. It's finally starting final assembly. We are fitting Trevors Body Bumpers to it. Local legend Rudy Goodues rebuilt the Trans and the Engine. International has supplied some of the interior and will be doing the rest. Through Ebay and Palo Alto Spedometer we have sourced and rebuilt Veigel gauges. Tony the Keyman is doing the starter button ,ignition and door handles. Wilford Wilkes did the Telefunken. Tom Birch rebuilt the carbs and supplied the square taillight housing. We hope to have it ready for it's delivery day which I'm told was 5/28/1952 to Glockler, In Frankfurt, Germany the only detail on the Cardex is that it's original coler was Maron (not a typo).

Just a little more exterior assembly then it's install the motor , alignment and installing the instruments and radio. Then I'm sure hundreds of details.

Nice to see another early car almost back on the road. I would love to see some pics of the '52 over the years. The earlier the better.

What happened to my question regarding the chassis number?

This is the motor we are putting in it . I have a D regulator still to put on it as well as the original fuel filter after breakin. I'm working with Andy Dougherty for one of Ken's mufflers.
we had J&E Pistons regroove the old Pistons and US Chrome Nitrated the cylinder sleeves.

I rechecked the chasis number is 11438.

Is that a Pascha red or a custom mix paint color. I would be very interested to see how you have attached the trim to the body(the trim between bumper and body). Did you use a rubber profile between the bumper and the trim? My '52 coupe is 11735 and it would be interesting to see if there are any differences between yours and mine. My coupe was parked in a garage for 35 years

Hi, I have 11441, and have the Reutter Factory spread sheet that covers your car (On the same page). Here is what it says:
Body #438
Color 523
Seats (Front & rear) 366c
Head Liner 3365
Carpet 695
Door locks 5478
Ign. lock B091

There is an interesting notation on the right edge of the page "11523" These are all hand written, and you can see what the numbers indicate by visiting Tom Birch's web page.
My car is the cover of my web page www.libertymotorsports356.net .....Jim.

Jim and Mike sorry I haven't responded. I just saw your posts. I don't get on this forum very often. When it came across as an email on my blackberry it was something I could do while I was standing in line etc. We are slipping the motor in, lots of work getting clutch and accelarater connectors right. I'll put on some more detailed pictures when I get it back home. I don't have any rubber between the bottom of body and top of bumpers. The chrome trim was from a VW it is in two pieces both front and back because I couldn't get it long enough. Someone in Europe told me he had acces to the Kardex and said the color was Maron. porsche told me that they didn't have enough info to do a Certificate of Authority.
Thanks for your interest.
Mark
