It was bought in Billings, Montana. He was a former VW owner who wanted something more sporty and yes, that was his sister standing next to him.
The caption for the photo was 'New Romance at 80'.

Dear Geoff, now that is the kind of history and story behind a simple picture that makes this all worth while, that is just fantastic, and to think they are in Billings Montana, just a couple hundred miles from North Dakota is cool as hell. Never too old to buy a 356! I have been so amazed at the other thread asking "At what age did you buy your 356?" I never would have dreamed that a majority of everyone who responded is UNDER the ripe old age of 30 years old. Thanks for taking the time to share the details of that photograph with the rest of us, this is one of the funnest threads in sometime.

Thanks,
Shane

Very peculiar hood ornament this one lady has, an upside down Horseshoe affixed to the hood? Is this split window an aluminum body? Why is one turn signal larger than another? Give me a history lesson if there is one to teach? I did a search for the name Laurent Missbauer and it looks like this car is in Switzerland. I always thought you need to tack a horseshoe in the Up position so that the luck does not run out? I wonderl if Stoddars has one of these special Porsche issued Horseshoes for sale? I see a trend starting.

Shane,
I don't think Otto Mathe is a 'lady', and the car looks like a Gmund coupe, but you're the expert. Perhaps the horseshoe is to wish bad luck on the competition. You'll also note the photo has a copyright stamp so it's use without the photographer's permission is verboten.
Doing a Google search for old photos is good for instant gratification. Perhaps creating new ones of one's own would be a more creative pursuit...
Regards,

Dear Mr. Glockler:

We all know you have it out for my thread, you sure do seem to be visiting it often. And as for what photographs infringing on anyones rights, I can be served papers at

Shane Balkowitsch
Balkowitsch Enterprises, Inc.
4419 Centurion Dr.
Bismarck, ND 58504

a process server or Sheriff should have no problem finding me, my corporate attorney will field any inquiries. You should also know that a photograph does not have to have a Copyright Notice stamped on it in order to be infringing on the owners right, so unless you have written permission by all of the photographs your have posted to the Registry over the years, you once again are being a hypocrite. And by the way this thread is about Damsels, not Male Significant others if you want to be technical and critical. If you cannot contribute in a positive manner, I suggest you start your own thread and leave the one I started alone. I have been having a difficult time keeping up with all of the requests for the photograph you reported as inappropriate, I have been emailing it all over the world trying to help some guys out, that is more than I can say for you and your antics. If you would like to talk, give me a call at (800)355-2956, my dime.

Thanks,
Shane

PS: You also know very well that my car is not finished yet and that I have not been within 1000 miles of it yet. My time for taking my own pictures is coming, I apologize for being enthusiastic in the meantime.

Shane,
The photograph that was deemed inappropriate to this site was removed by the list monitor because it violated the rules, not because we don't all know where to find literally millions of sexual and sexist images. This isn't one of those sites. When you have some actual knowledge of Porsche 356's you might contribute something to this forum other than an over abundance of enthusiasm.
I think someone already posted this to you, but to review. lighten up. As to posting male's with 356's, you just did so yourself. If you think the person behind the wheel of that Gmund car is a 'damsel' then you have either very poor eyesight or other issues that won't be discussed on this forum.
Regards,

I found this on MSN's "Wonderwall" this morning. It is of Sofia Vergara of ABC's "Modern Family" in a 356.

The picture is family friendly in spite of the title in the link. It takes a few seconds to fully load.

Dear Mr. Glockler,
I did not realize that there is a degree of knowledge or expertise needed to be out in this forum? I contribute what I can and when I do it is in a positive supportive manner. If you read my posts I always have my heart on my sleeve knowing damn well that I have much to learn about our beloved early Porsche cars. What I do know is that I am an owner of one and that I have spent countless hours researching and planning every little detail of my cars restoration. I would like to think just the love of the 356 cars is all that is needed to share and participate, but as you pointed out, what do I know?
Sincerely,
Shane

Wow. I wonder who is going to be the arbiter of "actual knowledge".
Really, that's the kind of thing that drives people off in droves.
