I am trying to source the correct bulbs for my 6V 55 Pre A and wanted to see if someone has the correct numbers for the front and rear lights.
NLA and Stoddard do list the dual filament bulb for the front and rear but reference that it will be used with the tall beehive lense which is not correct for the 55 cars.

The interior lights are shown as NLA 631 006 90 which are 36mm in length but are referenced as being for the interior only. My shine down light appears to use this 36mm length bulb and not the 41mm bulb shown for the licence light.

Info on the single filament rear running lights is also needed.

Thanks and regards,

I convert most of my cars to12V. Even my Pre-As. I use Stoddard/NLA or Sierra Madre for all my bulbs. You just need to keep the wattage low where they get close to plastic lenses. Don't ask me how I know, as they say.

peter, like jim, after month of searching and many false leads i was unable to find the correct short bulbs for my 53 which would fit under the correct lenses. I finally replaced the sockets with stoddards new 6v units and never looked back. seems they are a little deeper and being clean and new also eliminate the need for much work on the old ones.

Peter, Call Richard at NLA I just purchased both the single and double contact tail light bulbs from them. I don't know how to tell the difference between the tall and short lense but as you I keep getting the tall 6V bulbs for my 55 Pre A Speedster Bee Hive lights and would break when putting the lense on. I talked to Richard last month and got the right ones. Hope this helps and good luck. George

One thing I do (even on behive A cars) is to unsolder the bulb socket, press the socket deeper into the housing, test fit a bulb so it can be installed with the glass dome as low as possible, and then resolder the socket to the housing. This prevents melting of the lenses, which happened to me on my pre-A once.
