I removed these today from my '63 Coupe. They still wear the original Smyrna green paint. The wrench size is 19mm. I doubt that any running 356 in the world has them. Do you know what they do? Take a guess.

Let’s see. Your hint is “I doubt that any running 356 in the world has them.” That tells me that all other cars that have them are not running. Do they have anything to do with Lucas electrics?

Sorry, I couldn’t resist. Still haven’t gotten MGs out of my system.

Just a guess from the photos, but looks to be M10 fine pitch approx 15mm long.
If they have body paint on them, that probably eliminates engine, transmission and suspension applications. OK, I give, Am i missing these on my cab?

My guess is they were something, or holding something, that should have been removed at the factory prior to delivery, but somehow were overlooked on your car. Would that explain the "running 356 today" part. Warm?

Used for mounting the body onto a mobile jog (before suspension fully installed) so as to move around the factory?

Some cars left the factory with these bolts and some cars did not. It could go either way but it was not a mistake.

So it's something that the dealer should have removed during "dealer prep"?

They could be plugs for the seat belt anchor holes.

How about a plug from where a cabriolet top would bolt to, which wasn't removed on a coupe?

When cabriolet bodies were modified to become notch back coupes at the coach works these were left in the holes where the cab. folding top would have mounted. They look sort of like my Conv'D top bolts.
