Gang,

I have a question I am hoping one of you might be able to help me with. I am working on an antenna out of a 1950 coupe. The antenna originally had a rubber hose covering part of the mast when in the retracted position. This thin wall hose has a rough/pebbly texture on the outside. Sorry ,I do not have a good picture I can share. I have looked but have not been able to come up with anything so far. Does anybody out there have a source for thin wall rubber tubing with a rough outside texture?

TIA,

Joris

Hello Joris,

Sounds like Chloroprene rubber tubing (non-shrinkable). What color? Black is the norm. What I/D?

This material looks like a natural rubber band (an "elastic" as we say) with a wrinkled sort of finish.

Take a look at terminal on an original wire harness. The terminals are covered with black thin wall rubber (not shrink tubing as used by some vendors). Those covers are put on with a special pliers. That material is supplied by HellermannTyton see http://www3.catoya.com/asp/_1479/flash/gesamtPdf.pdf and the pliers are at the bottom of that PDF.

HI Brad,

Thank you for your reply. I m well aware of the tubing you are talking about. I spend quite some time removing all the ones on my YNZ wiring loom and replacing them with ones which have the correct texture.

The tubing I am looking for has a 24mm ID and probably a 25-26mm OD. It differs from the rubber you describe by being noticeably shinier and rougher in texture. A friend has an original piece I am trying to get pictures off so that you can see what I am looking for.

Thanks,

Joris
