What have you used in place of the quiet muffler supplied by Bursch. I've seen a few examples but need to narrow down my focus as to the best replacement for this quite can. I think a few more hp can be gained & would like to have a more robust sound without being too loud & retain some of the needed back pressure. I remember those back in the 60's that made a lovely noise until the glass pack went out completely & you could wake up the dead.

My example is the quite Bursch, non attachable muffler. Some have mentioned a Turbo Muffler ? Need more specifics. Got Pictures that would be great.

Thanks Max H

Once upon a time ages ago when the air was clean and you know what was dirty I needed to change out the blown glass pack muffler on an extractor system. What was floating around in my shop was a Corvair Spider turbo muffler. It fit very well in one orientation and the inlet/outlet marking was hard to interpret so I welded it in that way. It was reasonably quiet and the motor ran strong so I used it at events with sound restrictions.

At one event an "expert" said hay Jim, you idiot, your muffler is mounted in backwards! I replied that it worked so well that I did not give a hoot. Later, my funny exhaust system was applied to a dyno setup to see how it performed and guess what? The reverse flow turbo muffler setup was born.

You never know what might roll out from under the old shade tree!

Max,

I had a turbo muffler on my 4-cam and it was loud enough to hear but the dead still sleep.
As far a power gain, I'm reminded of some testing we did in the 60's and discovered the stock muffler was King.
